Bratislava, 9 January - Slovakia's industrial output fell by an accelerated rate of 4.5 percent year-on-year (y-o-y) in November 2025, following the 3.8 percent seen in October, the Statistics Office reported on Friday. Industrial output has posted nine decreases since the beginning of 2025, with the latest one being the fourth most significant. Eleven of the 15 monitored branches of industry reported y-o-y drops in output in November, while it was only seven in October. Only four branches posted y-o-y increases in output, and they had no significant impact on the overall figure. The most significant impact on industrial output in November was produced by an almost 19-percent y-o-y fall in gas and electricity supply output, with the sector showing a significant rate of decline since the beginning of last year. Among the sectors that significantly slowed down Slovak industry was the production of transport vehicles, which went down by almost 7 percent y-o-y in November. This was the third worst monthly figure seen since March 2024, but it could have been caused partly by a high comparison base. The most significant positive impact was produced by a more than 5-percent increase in metal production, which only partly offset the declines in other sectors. In fourth place in terms of impact on overall developments was again a sector with a negative impact - other industrial manufacturing, which fell by 10 percent in November. An even more than 20 percent increase in chemicals production, which had the fifth biggest impact, failed to mitigate the significant decline in industrial output. After seasonal adjustments, industrial output rose by 0.9 percent month-on-month (m-o-m) in November. In the first eleven months of 2025, industrial output in Slovakia shrank by 2.6 percent y-o-y. Seven of the 15 monitored sectors recorded lower y-o-y outputs. The drop resulted from a more than 14-percent decline in electricity and gas supply output, a 12-percent decrease in the production of machinery and equipment, and a 5-percent fall in metal production. An even bigger fall was prevented by almost 2-percent growth in automotive production. ko/df
