Government to Deal with Bill to Replace Law on Asylum on Friday

Bratislava, 9 January (TASR) - The government will deal with the draft new law on international protection that might replace the law on asylum on Friday. The law, sponsored by the Interior Ministry, would work with new terminology and introduce the institute of a border asylum or the possibility of restricting the freedom of movement of an asylum seeker. The ministry wants to reflect the requirements resulting from the reform of asylum and migration policy, adopted by the European Union (EU) last year. The Cabinet will also discuss another proposal prepared by the Interior Ministry - a new strategy for the resilience of critical entities. The strategy should switch from a passive model of protection and defence of critical infrastructure elements to a dynamic and proactive system based on risk assessment, prevention and resilience. A draft amendment to the law on collective investment is also on the agenda of the first government session to be held in the new year. The amendment concerns the transposition of the EU directive aimed at unifying rules for alternative investment fund managers within the EU. The government is also expected to approve the adjustment of the amount of reimbursement for emergency medical service departments from public health insurance funds, as well as a candidate for the post of a European Court of Human Rights judge for the Slovak Republic. ko
