Sutaj Estok: Interior Ministry's Cyber Infrastructure Protected at Global Level

Bratislava, 5 January (TASR) - The cyber infrastructure of the Interior Ministry is protected at a world-class level, Minister Matus Sutaj Estok (Voice-SD) has stated in an interview with TASR, guaranteeing that last year's cyber-attack on the Economy Ministry didn't result in the manipulation of data for the energy assistance system. According to him, it operates on the Interior Ministry's systems. The ministry plans to incorporate artificial intelligence (AI) into the state's cyber protection. The minister expects AI-based cyber protection to be tested in the near future. "We're talking about a very short time, perhaps not even months, when we'll be able to test artificial intelligence and not only test it, but also use it in real life for protection. Today, artificial intelligence is at an extremely advanced level, and I can say that Slovakia won't lag behind. We're already keeping pace with many countries that take security seriously," he said. The Interior Ministry head would also like to involve AI in communication with the public in 2026. It could help people to navigate government services. According to him, a pilot measure could be deployed at district offices and client centres during the course of this year. "I'm convinced that in the future, and it may be in the very near future, a large proportion of civil servants will be replaced by artificial intelligence. This is because there are many processes that are automated today that essentially don't require the human factor, and this will be the trend. I'm convinced that in five years, if it is well managed, the state will look completely different from how it looks today," opined Sutaj Estok. am/df
