Bratislava, 5 January (TASR) - It isn't true that President Peter Pellegrini isn't interfering in the Voice-SD party's decisions, Investment Minister Samuel Migal (Independent), who was expelled from the party, has posted on a social network.
"He himself appeared among the delegates [at the party congress - ed. note] and actively supported our expulsion from the party, even though he already knew at the time that our criticism of way in which Voice-SD was heading was matter of fact and well founded," said Migal.
Based on information that he's learnt from the more progressive element of Voice, Migal claims that Pellegrini is still involved in decision-making and influences who has space in the party and who doesn't. "When someone says that 'the politics pursued by Voice-SD is a matter for its leadership' but at the same time retains the special powers of the founding chairman, it's hard to believe it," said Migal.
According to the minister, Pellegrini maintains influence behind the scenes while distancing himself from the consequences of this policy. "If we want fair politics, there's need to start with an honest truth - including about who is actually pulling the strings in Voice-SD," stated Migal.
President Pellegrini has told TASR that the politics pursued by the Voice-SD party are a matter for its duly elected leadership and that he doesn't interfere in it in any way. "I'm the honorary chairman of the party not by my own decision, but by the verdict of delegates of the Voice congress, who praised my contribution as the founder and first chairman of the party in this way," said Pellegrini, adding that he monitors the party's political activities as the head of state.
