Bratislava, 1 January (TASR) - The coalition Slovak National Party (SNS) will exert political pressure in the future to abolish the transaction tax completely, and it also wants to submit proposals for a comprehensive reform of the tax system, TASR has been told by party spokeswoman Zuzana Skopcova. "In the future, depending on the strength of political support, the Slovak National Party plans to exert political pressure for the complete scrapping of the transaction tax, and, at the same time, submit proposals for a comprehensive reform of the tax system. SNS will pay particular attention to a reform of the mechanism for collecting value-added tax," said the party. SNS pointed out that the transaction tax for sole traders has ceased to apply as of 1 January. "SNS is convinced that in the future it will be necessary to abolish the transaction tax in its entirety and then proceed with reforming value-added tax and income tax," added Skopcova. In the area of value-added tax, SNS will push for a two-tier rate system in the future, with rates of 10 percent and 20 percent. am/df
