Martin, 20 December (TASR) - Construction of the new St. Martin's University Hospital in Martin is progressing in line with the set schedule, Health Minister Kamil Sasko (Voice-SD) posted on a social network on Saturday.
"The construction of the underground part of the facility is nearing its end, and so is the construction of the sixth floor. The construction of the pillars for the heliport has begun," specified the minister.
The Martin hospital reported that the St. Martin University Hospital project continues at a high pace even at the end of the year. "Thanks to the favourable weather, construction teams are working without any limitations, so there is no halt on the construction site even in the pre-Christmas period. The general contractor is reporting record-high numbers of workers, which underlines the increased commitment," reported Martin University Hospital (UNM).
According to UNM, workers at the construction site are currently focusing on constructing the skeleton of the main building, concreting of walls, columns and ceiling slabs. This week they're working on four ceilings of the main building and one ceiling of the parking garage.
"We will reach the sixth above-ground floor on two modules and close the ceiling of the first floor on the last module before the end of the year. The underground part of the main hospital building, i.e. the second and first underground floors, was completely closed with concrete in early December," explained UNM.
The contract for the construction of a new hospital in Martin with 660 beds was signed in June 2024. The hospital's construction is being financed with money from Slovakia's Recovery and Resilience Plan and must be completed by 30 June, 2026. The construction is being carried out by a consortium of four contractors with Adifex as the lead member.
