President Receives Head of EC Representation in Slovakia Peter Stano

Bratislava, 19 December (TASR) - President Peter Pellegrini received head of the European Commission (EC) Representation in Slovakia Peter Stano on Friday during his inaugural visit, the EC Representation in Slovakia has reported on its website. At his meeting with the head of state, Stano pointed out that Slovakia's membership of the European Union (EU) is key for the country and its people in terms of guaranteeing democratic principles, the rule of law, fundamental rights and freedoms, supporting economic growth, raising living standards, consumer protection and strengthening Slovakia's position in Europe and the world. The EC Representation in Slovakia also declared that, under the leadership of its new head, it will continue to communicate objectively and positively about the benefits and obligations of EU membership, promoting dialogue and mutual respect with representatives of official institutions and political parties, as well as with civil society and the general public. am/df
