Long-distance Bus Suffers Accident on D1 Motorway in Bratislava Region

Bratislava, 16 December (TASR) - An accident involving a long-distance bus took place on the D1 motorway in Senec district (Bratislava region) in the direction of Bratislava early on Tuesday morning, Bratislava region police spokesman Michal Szeiff has informed TASR, adding that for still unknown reasons the bus strayed off the road and overturned onto its side. Eleven Ukrainian passengers were on the bus at the time of the accident. Eight of them suffered injuries, two of them serious ones, said Szeiff. "Emergency medical services were called to the scene," said Szeiff said, adding that the result of the bus driver's breathalyser test was negative. The bus accident took place near the village of Blatne. "Firefighters carried two seriously injured people out of the bus on stretchers, provided the injured people with first aid and helped to load them into ambulances," the Firefighter and Rescue Corps (HaZZ) has posted on a social network. Firefighters from Pezinok, Senec, Bratislava and Trnava were sent to the scene. ko/df
