Bratislava, 11 December (TASR) - Voice-SD MPs stand behind the party leadership and party leader Matus Sutaj Estok, and they don't feel the need to convene a congress to review Sutaj Estok's performance as chairman, Parliamentary Chair Richard Rasi (Voice-SD) and Voice parliamentary caucus head Robert Puci stated on Thursday in response to MP Jan Ferencak's announcement that he's leaving the party caucus.
Ferencak made the announcement after he was ousted from the post of head of the House committee on European affairs. He also called for a party congress to be convened.
"We are here to address the doubts that our colleague has sown. Not only the chairman, but also the party leadership has the support of the entire parliamentary caucus. I'm convinced that this also applies to the entire membership base," said Rasi.
According to him, there's no need to respond to Ferencak's call to convene a congress. He and Puci pointed out that the congress has its own rules. "Convening a congress doesn't work on the principle that I'm angry, so let's convene one, but on the principle that we agree within the presidium, set a date, and then convene the congress," said Puci. He stated that no one currently wants to address the issue of Sutaj Estok remaining in office at a congress, stressing that the party leader has the support of Voice-SD MPs.
Rasi and Puci also commented on Ferencak's dismissal from the head of the European affairs committee, which was initiated by Voice. They believe it was a legitimate decision. "None of our committee chairs are glued to their seats. When the party decides that there's a need to replace any of the chairs, it will replace them," stated Puci.
