PS: Minister Raz Must Step Down Immediately Following Latest Railway Incident

Bratislava, 9 December (TASR) - Another extremely dangerous railway incident between the towns of Liptovsky Hradok and Liptovsky Mikulas in Zilina region is just further proof of the collapse of the state under the current government, chairman of the opposition Progressive Slovakia (PS) party Michal Simecka stated on Tuesday, adding that Transport Minister Jozef Raz (a Smer-SD nominee) must therefore resign immediately. "This is terrifying. The trains stopped maybe 20 metres apart. Slovakia is practically falling apart under [Robert] Fico's [Smer-SD] government. Minister Raz must resign immediately. Every day, thousands of people risk their lives for something as mundane as travelling by train," said Simecka. According to MP Jan Hargas (PS), this is clear evidence that Minister Raz is unable to handle the situation and that the measures taken aren't working. "After 14 years of Fico's governments, the railways are in such a state that people are genuinely afraid to board a train. And we're going to face huge movements across the country for the Christmas holidays. How long do Robert Fico and Raz want to go on risking people's lives? If Voice still has any weight in the coalition, it will insist on Raz's ouster today," stressed Hargas. am/df
