Bratislava, 3 December (TASR) – Deputy Prime Minister and Economy Minister Denisa Sakova (Voice-SD) confirmed after Wednesday's government session that a cyber-attack occurred on Tuesday (2 December) affecting the IT systems of the Economy Ministry. She said the attack lasted only a short time and that swift action prevented any data leak. The cyber-attack was disclosed on Tuesday evening on social media by Investment, Regional Development and Informatisation Minister Samuel Migal (independent). "As soon as the attempt was detected and identified, we contacted staff at the National Security Authority (NBU) and SK-CERT. We then moved to a more detailed identification of the incidents and implemented technical, personnel and organisational measures to prevent any large-scale data leak or data encryption," the minister explained. "There was no threat to data related to energy assistance," Sakova assured the media. "We're currently still monitoring and examining the extent of the damage and the scope of the attack. According to initial information, we fortunately managed to intercept the attack in time. Our measures helped to ensure that the damage is minimal," she added. She also noted that no ransom demand was made. On Tuesday evening, Migal stated on social media that the government's cyber unit CSIRT, in cooperation with SK-CERT, was taking action at the Economy Ministry due to a cyber-attack on the ministry's servers. mf/df
