Trencin, 17 November (TASR) – Police in Trencin have launched criminal proceedings regarding theft and disorderly conduct after two men, aged 22 and 32, committed a theft in a Trencin shop, with one of them assaulting and injuring private security staff and also attacking a shop employee, regional police spokesperson Petra Klenkova reported on Monday.
On Sunday evening (16 November), the men loaded goods worth nearly €350 into a shopping trolley and left the shop without paying. Outside, they were approached by two security guards along with two shop employees. The younger of the thieves physically attacked both security guards, striking them with his fist wrapped in a chain. The guards sustained injuries requiring hospital treatment.
After the assault, the suspects drove away in a car, leaving the stolen goods in front of the shop. The police later traced the vehicle, found the 22-year-old inside and took him into custody. The 32-year-old suspect wasn't in the car, but officers located and detained him with prior approval from a prosecutor. Both men have been placed in a police holding cell.
