Bratislava, 15 November (TASR) – The 31st Christmas Charity Bazaar will take place on 23 November in the Old Market Hall in Bratislava, with the event — one of the oldest charity initiatives in Slovakia — to be held once again under the auspices of the capital's mayor Matus Vallo, TASR learnt from the organiser, International Women's Club. "Thirty countries have confirmed their participation in this year's Christmas bazaar, and they will present their culture, traditions, products and, last but not least, excellent gastronomy," said Judita Palkova from the club. The event will run from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Funds raised will be distributed to charitable organisations across Slovakia. "As every year, the proceeds will go to a special public collection account registered by our club and, in line with the law, will be allocated to charitable organisations in the Slovak Republic," Palkova added, noting that more than €1.4 million has been raised in total to date. Embassies, representatives of dozens of countries, international schools and Slovak charitable organisations regularly take part in the event. The International Women's Club is a non-profit, non-political and non-religious organisation bringing together members from many countries living in Slovakia. Charity work has been an essential part of the club's mission since its establishment in 1991. mf/jrg
