Cairo/Bratislava, 2 November (TASR) – Slovakia, represented by Foreign Affairs Minister Juraj Blanar (Smer-SD), delivered nearly two tonnes of humanitarian aid over the weekend to Egypt for civilians from the Gaza Strip and Sudan, the Foreign and European Affairs Ministry press department has told TASR.
Blanar explained that this is already the third package of material humanitarian aid provided by Slovakia, intended for Egypt's Ministry of Health and Population, which offers medical assistance on its territory to Palestinians as well as Sudanese. The latest shipment weighs a total of 1.8 tonnes and is valued at €49,000. It includes supplies such as surgical gloves, surgical sutures, water canisters, solar lamps, and mess tins.
“Egypt is a strategic partner in the region, providing assistance to civilians affected by armed conflicts in Gaza, Sudan, and also Libya. In addition to other basic needs, it ensures access to primary healthcare, which is vital for these people,” Blanar said, adding that Slovakia is an important partner in this area.
