Bratislava, 30 October (TASR) - The Interior Ministry is preparing a joint artificial intelligence platform for public administration, Interior Ministry's state secretary Patrik Krauspe said during a conference titled "Government Cloud - A Secure Foundation for e-Government Services" held in Bratislava on Wednesday (29 October). He added that the use of artificial intelligence (AI) will have a transformative effect on both the work of civil servants, as well as their decision-making. "We are preparing a joint artificial intelligence platform for public administration, one that will be secure, transparent and usable across institutions and fully under the state's control. Our goal is to make sure that artificial intelligence becomes a tool, not a risk. A tool for simplifying processes, improving the quality of services, a tool to support data-based decision-making and efficient use of public resources," said Krauspe, adding that e-government services have become the reality of everyday life. "When we communicate with authorities to meet our obligations or use e-government services online, it's the reliability of these services that shape the people's trust in the government. In order to strengthen it, we need stable and secure technologies. The government cloud is exactly the basis on which the state's functioning is built," he said, adding that the government cloud today protects and makes accessible the data and services that are essential for the functioning of the state, so its reliability is a must. The government cloud operated by the Interior Ministry has been providing cloud services for nearly ten years to more than 60 organisations and ensures the secure operation of over 220 projects, thereby supporting the effective functioning of public administration. Its infrastructure is based on modern technology and meets the most stringent security standards, while all data is stored exclusively within the territory of the Slovak Republic, explained the ministry. jrg
