New Book 'Slovakia and Japan: The First 30+ Years' Launched in Bratislava

Bratislava, 27 October (TASR) – The book 'Slovakia and Japan: The First 30+ Years' by Pavol Demes offers a comprehensive view of the development of relations between Slovakia and Japan over the past three decades, with the publication presented on Monday in Bratislava by Miroslav Lajcak, Slovakia's former ambassador to Japan (1994-98) as well as former Foreign Affairs Minister (2012-20), together with Japanese Ambassador to Slovakia Yasuhiro Kawakami. Foreign policy analyst, publicist, and civil society expert Pavol Demes outlines in the book the history of relations and exchanges between Japan and Slovakia across various fields. The publication focuses on economic cooperation, culture, education and science, sport, literature, the beginnings of Slovak-Japanese relations, diplomatic ties and bilateral visits, as well as Japan's governmental and non-governmental assistance to Slovakia. mf
