Bratislava, 27 October (TASR) - The Internal Affairs Inspectorate (UIS) has charged former National Criminal Agency (NAKA) investigator Milan S. (name abbreviated due to legal reasons) with the crime of abusing the powers of a public official and obstructing justice, TASR reported on Monday based on information published on social media by lawyer Marek Para as the injured party in the case at hand. According to Para, Milan S. is accused of having deliberately concealed existing evidence in order to prevent Para from effectively defending himself. This allowed Para to be detained and later remanded in custody. "Moreover, even after it became clear that there was evidence in my favour relevant to deciding the case, the accused Milan S. repeatedly refused to provide the evidence despite my numerous requests, keeping it, so to speak, 'under lock and key' in his drawer ... His conduct was criticised by both the Specialised Criminal Court and the Supreme Court of the Slovak Republic when they dismissed the indictment against me as unfounded," stated Para. jrg/df
