Bratislava, 27 October (TASR) - The Regional Court in Bratislava has upheld the decision of Bratislava I District Court not to remand a mother accused of murdering her newborn baby in custody, TASR was told by spokesman for Bratislava courts Pavol Adamciak on Monday.
The court rejected the prosecutor's appeal, and the woman will thus be prosecuted at large. This decision is final.
The district court imposed several restrictions on the defendant, however. "She must hand over her passport, must not leave the territory of the Slovak Republic, must report any change of residence to law-enforcement bodies and must appear before a probation and mediation officer," said Adamciak on 17 October.
The charge is related to an incident that occurred in a flat on Nobelova Street in Bratislava on the night of 14 October. Police officers found the body of a newborn baby there with no signs of life.
