Sipos: Fico Most Afraid of Revolution, Which Is Why We Embrace Peaceful One

Bratislava, 23 October (TASR) – The 'Slovakia' party has repeatedly registered the concerns of Prime Minister Robert Fico (Smer-SD) about a potential revolution and therefore decided to achieve one, peacefully, through the 2027 parliamentary elections, head of 'Slovakia' parliamentary caucus Michal Sipos told TASR TV in an interview on Thursday.
Sipos responded this way to a question about why the party named its website — which surveys visitors' opinions on various social issues — 'Revolution2027'. “We want it to happen through proper democratic elections. We want to make a coup in the sense of turning people's ideas into laws and the government's policy statement,” he said.
According to Sipos, 'Slovakia' has so far made three proposals: returning child support to €200 per month (€100 as a child allowance and €100 as a tax bonus), banning health insurance companies from paying out profits unless all patients scheduled for surgery are actually operated on within 30 days, and halving MPs' salaries.
“We were in a coalition, we had coalition partners, and they did not want to support it,” Sipos said when asked why the party had not reduced MPs' salaries when it was in government and held a constitutional majority in Parliament. This time, he said, the 'Slovakia' party will consider the fulfilment of some of its demands within six months after the election as a condition for remaining part of a governing coalition.
