Bratislava, 22 October (TASR) - If the opposition Christian Democratic Movement (KDH) becomes part of a new government in the future, it's ready to reverse the 'nationalisation' of private and church schools and the increased bureaucracy in the education sector, KDH has stated in response to the approval of laws drafted by the Education Ministry on Tuesday (21 October). "KDH will guarantee that if it becomes part of a government that will replace that of Robert Fico, it will abolish [Education Minister Tomas] Drucker's nonsensical 'nationalisation' of private and church schools and reduce bureaucracy in the education sector," said KDH's communications department. "As a party of November '89, we respect parents' right to choose the most suitable school for their children, and we reject the totalitarian practices of this government," added KDH. On Tuesday, Parliament approved several legislative proposals for the education sector, such as changes in the method for defining school districts and expanding the range of reasons for reducing the normative contribution. In addition, pre-school education will be mandatory for all four-year-old children as of September 2027. jrg/df
