Bratislava, 21 October (TASR) - The National Institute of Childhood Diseases (NUDCH) in Bratislava plans to launch a COVID-19 vaccination centre for children aged six months and older in the next few days, NUDCH spokesperson Dana Kamenicka confirmed for TASR on Tuesday. The vaccination centre will be located in the outpatient section of the Paediatric Emergency Medicine Clinic for non-acute patients and will be open three days a week – every Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday – from 8:00 a.m. to 11:20 a.m. "We plan to open it in the next few days, and we'll inform the public accordingly," added Kamenicka, emphasising that prior registration via the National Health Information Centre's vaccination website will be necessary. According to information provided by the Health Ministry on social media, "appointments will start being allocated in the coming days, depending on demand and the hospital's capacity". "Vaccination against COVID-19 is very important, especially for at-risk children for whom COVID-19 infection may worsen their underlying condition or make the illness more serious," explained Zuzana Rennerova, head of the Paediatric Pulmonology and Phthisiology Clinic at the Faculty of Medicine of the Slovak Medical University and NUDCH. In addition to Bratislava, vaccination against COVID-19 for children from six months of age is also available at the university hospital in Martin, as well as at the children's hospitals in Banska Bystrica and Kosice, added the Health Ministry. jrg/df
