Finance Ministry: Government Bonds Auction Proves That Investors Trust Slovakia

Bratislava, 20 October (TASR) - Slovakia remains a safe and trustworthy haven for investors, said the Finance Ministry on Monday, citing strong investor demand in the latest auction of government bonds. The Debt and Liquidity Management Agency (ARDAL) reported on Monday that Slovakia has borrowed more than €499 million in an auction of government bonds, with total demand from investors nearly three times oversubscribed, reaching almost €1.4 billion. Risk premiums fell slightly compared with September, by an average of 0.1 percent, the ministry noted. "The situation on the financial market is calm so far, even after S&P downgraded France's rating by one notch. For Slovakia's economy, it is important that demand for our bonds remains high," stated the ministry. jrg/df
