MFA State Secretary Chovanec Leaves for UNCTAD 16 Conference in Geneva

Bratislava, 20 October (TASR) - Foreign Affairs Ministry State Secretary Rastislav Chovanec on Monday left for Geneva, where he'll represent Slovakia at the 16th United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD 16) on October 20 and 21, the Foreign Affairs Ministry's communications department has informed TASR.
The conference will be attended by representatives of some 100 countries, including 60 ministers and 40 deputy ministers. Trade, the financing of development, investment, supply chains and technologies, including artificial intelligence and the digital economy, will be high on the agenda of the talks.
The state secretary's working agenda also includes bilateral talks with UN Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE) Executive Secretary Tatiana Molcean and Digital Cooperation Organisation (DCO) Secretary-General Deemah AlYahya.
The UNCTAD main session is held every four years and sets the organisation's strategic priorities for the upcoming period. The theme of this year's session is 'Shaping the Future: Supporting Economic Transformation for Fair, Inclusive and Sustainable Development'. It will focus on fair and sustainable growth, reforming the global financial system and strengthening the role of developing countries in international trade.
