Four New Ambassadors Present Letters of Credence to President Pellegrini

Bratislava, 17 October (TASR) – President Peter Pellegrini received letters of credence from new Ambassador of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland Bilal Zahid, during an introductory audience on Friday, TASR learnt from the President's Office press department on the same day. Three other ambassadors also presented their credentials to the President: Habiba Derradji Kherrourou of Algeria, Ian Devine of Ireland, and Walid Mohamed Ismail of Egypt. Bilateral relations between Slovakia and the United Kingdom have long been constructive and, since 2023, are anchored in the Joint Declaration on Bilateral Strategic Cooperation. This agreement covers foreign policy, security, trade, investment, innovation, and culture. A significant Slovak community, numbering around 160,000 citizens, resides in the United Kingdom. The President expressed confidence that the new ambassador would contribute to further deepening bilateral ties and enhancing cooperation between the two nations through his work. mf
