Sasko: One Patient Still in Serious Condition Following Train Collision

Bratislava, 14 October (TASR) - One patient is still in a serious condition in a Kosice hospital following Monday's (13 October) collision between express trains near the village of Jablonov nad Turnou in the Roznava district (Kosice region), Health Minister Kamil Sasko (Voice-SD) told a news conference on Tuesday, adding that the others should be out of danger and in a stable condition.
"All the others should be completely out of danger and stabilised, but one patient is in serious condition," said the minister, adding that he visited hospitals in Kosice and Roznava on Monday.
Ladislava Sustova, a spokeswoman of the Kosice-based L. Pasteur University Hospital (UNLP), added that a total of 36 injured people were treated at UNLP following the rail accident in Jablonov nad Turnou. "Of these, 13 patients with moderate injuries were admitted into hospital. One patient is in serious condition in the intensive care unit after surgery," she said.
Four patients are still being treated in Roznava hospital. "The condition of all the patients is stable," said Penta Hospitals SK PR specialist Bianka Krejciova. The hospital admitted six patients from the scene of the serious accident on Monday. Two were brought in with serious injuries and had to undergo surgery.
One patient remains in the J.A. Reiman University Hospital in Presov. "He suffered a serious spinal injury, is under the care of doctors at the trauma surgery department, and his condition is stable," said the hospital's PR manager Martina Pavlikova. The Presov hospital treated 12 patients after the train collision. One of them suffered serious injuries, while 11 patients were treated with minor injuries.
