Jablonov nad Turnou/Bratislava, 13 October (TASR) – The police have launched a criminal investigation into Monday's express train collision near the village of Jablonov nad Turnou (Kosice region) on suspicion of public endangerment, the Kosice Region Police have announced on social media. They also noted that the road in the affected area is now fully open to traffic. "We thank all drivers who followed police instructions throughout the day. Closing the main road was essential in order to ensure that injured individuals could be smoothly and swiftly transported to hospitals, as well as to make it possible to carry out the rescue and documentation work safely," the police explained. The police used a service drone and a 3D scanner to document the scene, and they deployed police dogs to search the wider surroundings of the crash site. The collision occurred shortly after 10:00 a.m. in front of a tunnel near Jablonov nad Turnou, at a location where two railway lines merge into a single track. According to Health Minister Kamil Sasko (Voice–SD), seven people are in critical condition, 14 sustained moderate injuries, and 48 others suffered minor injuries. mf/df
