Levice's Borough Reports 18 More Cases of Hepatitis

Levice, 29 September (TASR) - The number of cases of hepatitis A in the Ladislavov Dvor locality in the town of Levice in Nitra region has increased by 18 during the past week, with the Regional Public Health Office in Levice recording the first case on 1 September, acting regional hygienist Eva Kankova reported on Monday, adding that the authority currently registers a cumulative 51 cases in this part of the town. All new cases were detected by active search in the outbreak area, including three that were recorded in the municipality of Tekovske Luzany in the epidemiological relation with the epidemic in Ladislavov Dvor. Four cases of acute hepatitis A were also reported to the regional health office in Levice in the past week. These cases are epidemiologically related to the epidemic in Ladislavov Dvor, pointed out Kankova. The Levice regional health office currently knows about one active epidemic outbreak of hepatitis, namely in Levice's borough of Ladislavov Dvor. am/mcs
