One New Hepatitis A Case Reported in Hurbanovo Last Week

Komarno/Hurbanovo, 29 September (TASR) - One new case of hepatitis A has been reported for the last week in the town of Hurbanovo (Nitra region) as part of ongoing outbreaks, TASR reported on Monday based on information provided by Denisa Masarova from the Regional Public Health Authority (RUVZ) in Komarno. As of 29 September, a total of 140 cases have been reported from four active outbreaks falling under RUVZ Komarno's jurisdiction, three in Hurbanovo and one in Komarno. The new case was reported in one of the outbreaks in Hurbanovo from a single family of 35 people living under poor socio-hygienic conditions. To date, Hurbanovo has recorded a total of 134 cases. Komarno has one active outbreak, though no new cases were reported last week. Measures adopted include epidemiological investigations at outbreak sites and all those who have been in contact with the infected people are subject to medical surveillance and mandatory immunisation. This group currently involves 1,577 people. RUVZ in Komarno has also issued a decree on public health protection measures imposed to prevent the occurrence and spread of the disease at a secondary technical school in Komarno. In Hurbanovo, organising public gatherings is not recommended until the epidemiological situation improves. jrg/mcs
