Bratislava, 26 September (TASR) – With the passing of changes to its Constitution on Friday, Slovakia has sent a signal that it wishes to strengthen a society founded on the values of truth, freedom, justice and the dignity of human life, chair of the Conference of Bishops of Slovakia (KBS) Bernard Bober declared on the same day.
TASR learnt the news from the KBS press department.
"On behalf of the bishops of Slovakia, I express gratitude to all members of Parliament who supported the adoption of the constitutional changes with their votes. I also thank everyone who contributed to this important step," said Bober.
Earlier in the day, Parliament approved an amendment enshrining in the Constitution a definition of two genders – male and female. The amendment also introduces a guarantee of equality between men and women in terms of pay for work performed, further addressing child adoption and the educational process.
