Forgac: Slovak Church Voices Solidarity with Victims of Abuse

Bratislava/Kosice, 22 September – Chair of the Conference of Slovak Bishops' (KBS) Commission for the Protection of Minors and Auxiliary Bishop Marek Forgac has expressed both human and spiritual solidarity with victims of abuse on the occasion of the International Day Against Sexual Exploitation and Trafficking of Women and Children, which falls on Tuesday (23 September), the KBS press department told TASR on Monday. "We're marking the International Day Against Sexual Exploitation and Trafficking of Women and Children. On behalf of the KBS Commission for the Protection of Minors in the Church, I express human and spiritual closeness to all victims of abuse, whether it has occurred within the Church or outside it," stated Forgac. He emphasised that the commission aims to do everything possible to ensure that victims' voices are heard and taken seriously. "Strengthening prevention, proximity and support for victims should be an invitation to each of us to seek greater responsibility and transparency," he added. mf/df
