Hepatitis A Cases in Hurbanovo Rise to 139 in Four Outbreaks

Hurbanovo/Bratislava, 22 September (TASR) – Eight new cases of hepatitis A have been reported in the town of Hurbanovo (Nitra region), over the past week, bringing the total number of infections to 139 in four outbreaks, according to Denisa Masarova from the Regional Public Health Authority in Komarno.
Currently, four active hepatitis A outbreaks are being monitored within the jurisdiction of the Komarno authority, three of which are located in Hurbanovo. In the past week alone, six new cases have been reported in two of the outbreaks. As of Monday, the cumulative number of cases in Hurbanovo has reached 133.
Five of the newly reported cases were found within a single family living under poor socio-hygienic conditions. Members of this family reside at 12 different addresses in Hurbanovo, and the outbreak has now affected a total of 95 individuals within it.
In the second active outbreak, involving a family with 35 exposed individuals, no new cases were reported last week. The total number of cases in that outbreak remains at 29. In the third outbreak, which includes 15 exposed individuals, one new case has been confirmed, raising the cumulative total to nine.
Public health officials have also recorded one active outbreak in Komarno, within which two new cases were reported last week. The total number of cases in this cluster has increased to six.
