Bratislava, 21 September (TASR) - The Interior Ministry Days event held in Bratislava on Friday and Saturday (19-20 September) attracted more than 40,000 visitors, the ministry's press department informed TASR on Sunday.
"I would like to thank all my colleagues who helped organise this event, as well as the thousands of people who came and showed their interest in the hard work of police officers, firefighters, mountain rescuers, and other ministry units," said Interior Minister Matus Sutaj Estok (Voice-SD).
The programme of the event focused on showcasing the ministry's work along with displays of rescue technology including historical and modern equipment. Demonstrations for the visitors were prepared by more than 700 police officers, firefighters, mountain rescuers and members of other units.
The Interior Ministry Days were also an opportunity to raise awareness and educate the public – from the youngest children to seniors – in areas such as fire safety, road traffic, crime prevention, cyber security, and digital ID cards.
At an awards ceremony, which was part of the event, Estok handed over dozens of medals and commemorative certificates to police officers, firefighters, and rescuers with notable contributions to protecting the lives, health, and property.
According to the Ministry, another goal of the event was to incite interest among the visitors to join their ranks on the mission to protect citizens and build a safer Slovakia.
