SaS Criticises Interior Ministry Days, Calls for Minister's Resignation

Bratislava, 19 September (TASR) - Members of the opposition Freedom and Solidarity (SaS) party have criticised the organisation of the Interior Ministry Days, which they consider to be overpriced, and they also have a problem with the ministry's inefficiency and other purchases, insisting that Interior Minister Matus Sutaj Estok (Voice-SD) should resign. "In the past, when the Interior Ministry Days were held, the ministry spent around €50,000, maybe less. Now, with Matus Sutaj Estok, they will cost €600,000, which is at least twelve times more," said MP Juraj Krupa (SaS) at a press conference on Friday. The MP also criticised the fact that police salaries will not be increased in 2026. According to him, their pay will effectively decrease due to higher pay-roll contributions. "Personally, I believe it would be much better and more reasonable if Matus Sutaj Estok, for the sake of promoting the police and firefighters, were to resign from his post," stated Krupa. Marian Viskupic (SaS) is convinced that the government is spending public funds inefficiently on its own promotion. "People are contributing more and more, and the state, even when it could have saved money, simply spends it elsewhere," added Viskupic. According to him, any saved funds should not be used elsewhere out of respect for citizens and voters. tim/df/ko
