Nitra, 18 September (TASR) - More than 480 criminal complaints from clients of the now bankrupt Happy Travel travel agency have been submitted to the criminal police department of the Nitra Region Police Directorate to date, its spokesman Tomas Havetta has confirmed for TASR.
The total sum of the losses incurred cannot be quantified at the moment, as the number of clients out of pocket is still growing. The clients, who haven't yet filed a criminal motion, can still do so at any police station.
According to Havetta, no charges have been pressed against a particular person yet. The police will provide no more details for now with regards to the ongoing investigation.
Happy Travel announced bankruptcy on 1 July, stating that it was no longer able to pay and meet its obligations to its business partners and clients. Its owner Roman Berkes, who was the president of the Slovak Travel Agencies Association, resigned from the association's top post with immediate effect.
