Bratislava, 16 September (TASR) - The Culture Ministry has announced a selection procedure to fill the post of member of the STVR Council, with the deadline for candidates set at 22 September, TASR reported on Tuesday based on the ministry's call published earlier on its website. The requirements for applicants include a master's degree and at least ten years of experience in the media and audio-visual production, economics, law or information technology. The candidates are also required to submit a one-page development concept for the public broadcaster with a focus on public service media outputs. "Compliance with the specified requirements will be assessed during the selection procedure by a committee appointed by the culture minister," stated the ministry. Applicants meeting all the criteria will be invited to a selection procedure slated for 7 October. The STVR Council has been understaffed following the death of its former chair Jozef Kroslak in early July. Kroslak was one of four council members appointed by Culture Minister Martina Simkovicova (a Slovak National Party/SNS nominee). During last week's session of the parliamentary committee for culture and the media, council vice-chair Lukas Machala said that the vote for a new chair will only take place when the council is fully staffed. jrg/df
