Police Launch Criminal Investigation into Explosion in Malinovo

Bratislava, 15 September (TASR) – The police have launched a criminal investigation with respect to an explosion and subsequent fire in a garden supplies shop located on the ground floor of a residential building in Malinovo (Bratislava region) on Sunday (14 September), Bratislava regional police spokesperson Lukas Pecek confirmed for TASR on Monday. Pecek stated that the police received a report of an explosion at 10:15 a.m. on Sunday via the emergency line 158 concerning commercial premises in the village of Malinovo. The investigation is being conducted into the offence of property damage in conjunction with the offence of endangering public safety. "The case continues to be handled by officers from the District Police Directorate in Senec," added Pecek. On Sunday morning, an explosion occurred followed by a fire in a garden supplies shop on Slnecna Street in Malinovo. Upon arrival, firefighters found that plastic materials on a workbench had caught fire. The blaze was quickly contained and extinguished using a fire extinguisher. The residents of the building were evacuated in cooperation with the police. mf/df
