'Slovakia' and 'For the People' View Drone Attack on Poland As Serious Incident

Bratislava, 10 September (TASR) – Opposition MPs from the parliamentary caucus of 'Slovakia'-For the People-Christian Union alliance consider the Russian drone strike on Poland a serious security incident, TASR learnt from 'For the People' press department on the same day.
The party's chair Veronika Remisova called on Prime Minister Robert Fico (Smer-SD) to convene the Security Council. „It is clear that Fico’s accommodating stance towards Russia brings no benefits and, on the contrary, supports further escalation of the situation. Today it's Poland, tomorrow it could be Slovakia. Russian aggression will not be stopped by smiles in front of cameras, as Fico does; only a united and firm stance by all the European countries will stop Russia. The Prime Minister is behaving like a Kremlin agent waiting for Putin’s orders, attacking the opposition instead of protecting the Slovak people," stated Remisova.
According to Rastislav Kratky, MP for the 'Slovakia' party, the incident implies new security responsibilities for the government, which should first and foremost communicate its own preparedness and strong partnerships. „The question is whether they are capable of that when, through the Defence Ministry, Robert Kalinak (Smer-SD) is siphoning off state resources, and our relations with the West have cooled to the point that Fico is seen as an obstacle to joint defence policy," Kratky said.
Prime Minister Fico sees the violation of Polish airspace as a serious incident that could have far-reaching consequences. Kalinak stated that discussions about triggering Article Four of the North Atlantic Treaty are justified. Foreign Minister Blanar declared that the violation of Polish airspace by Russian drones is seen by Slovakia as a serious deterioration and escalation of the situation.
On Tuesday night Polish airspace was breached by drones during Russian strikes on Ukraine. Debris from one of the drones damaged the roof of a house in the village of Wyryki in Lublin Voivodeship. Another drone was discovered in the village of Czosnowka in the same region.
