Bratislava, 10 September (TASR) - The period when one of the parents took care of a child on maternity or parental leave should be counted towards the pension, which should eliminate discrimination, especially for mothers who care for children more often and have lower pensions for raising them, according to a draft amendment to the Social Insurance Act due to be discussed by the government at its regular session on Wednesday.
The amendment to the Social Insurance Act could come into force as early as January next year.
The cabinet also plans to designate the bypasses of the towns of Pezinok and Modra in Bratislava region as strategic investments. The bypasses of both towns are to divert transit traffic from the overloaded road II/502, thus not only reducing traffic load and improving traffic flow, but also reducing noise and emissions.
The ministers are also to deal with a Report on the Progress in the Implementation of Slovakia's Recovery and Resilience Plan as of 31 August 2025. Slovakia is expected to submit its seventh payment application under the Recovery Plan at the end of this year. This application contains 18 milestones and targets and the estimated amount of the application is €694 million. The document contains a detailed breakdown of the progress achieved in relation to the most critical and prospectively most important measures.
