Bratislava, 9 September (TASR) - Parliament also observed a minute of silence on Tuesday to commemorate former MPs Jan Luptak and Ivan Laluha, who died during the summer, with their work and lives being presented by MP Dusan Jarjabek (Smer-SD), a member of the parliamentary culture and media committee. Luptak first served in Parliament as a member of the Democratic Left Party (SDL), while later he represented the Slovak Workers Association (ZRS), which he founded and led. He also held the post of House vice-chair. Laluha engaged in dissident activities as a close associate of Alexander Dubcek during the so-called period of normalisation. After the Velvet Revolution, he served as a politician in Public Against Violence (VPN). He was the first chair of the parliamentary foreign affairs committee. He was actively involved in creating Slovakia's parliamentary diplomacy and establishing the first contacts with European integration groupings. He was also a historian and university teacher. ko/df
