Fico Meets with European Council President Costa on Slovak-Ukrainian Border

Vysne Nemecke/Bratislava, 5 September (TASR) - Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico (Smer-SD) met with President of the European Council Antonio Costa at the border crossing between Slovakia and Ukraine on Friday, Fico announced on social media. He informed Costa about his visit to China from which he had just returned, and the two leaders briefly discussed the current situation in the region, reads Fico's post on a social network. The meeting came ahead of Fico’s talks with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy in Uzhhorod, where energy infrastructure is expected to be one of the key topics. President Zelenskyy also held a meeting with Costa, where they discussed Ukraine's EU membership, the import of Russian oil, and security guarantees. jrg/mcs
