Bratislava, 2 September (TASR) – Vaccines targeting the new variant of COVID-19 will be delivered to Slovakia on their scheduled dates, starting in the second half of September and continuing through October, TASR learnt from the Health Ministry's press department on Tuesday.
„We assure all citizens that there will be a sufficient supply of vaccines, and everyone who wishes to be vaccinated voluntarily will have the opportunity during the main vaccination season," said ministry spokesperson Veronika Danicova.
In April, the Slovak government authorised Health Minister Kamil Sasko (Voice–SD) to halt further procurement of mRNA COVID-19 vaccines until the results of an analysis were presented.
The Slovak Academy of Sciences (SAV) announced on 30 June that it had completed the analysis. According to the SAV, the results showed that the vaccines contain only trace amounts of DNA molecules, far below approved limits.
The government has not yet discussed the analysis. According to Prime Minister Robert Fico (Smer-SD), the matter will not be included in the agenda of this week's government sessions.
