Senica, 27 August (TASR) - The Slovak Academy of Sciences' (SAV) analysis of the safety of anti-Covid vaccines wasn't supposed to be on the agenda of the away-from-home government session in Senica (Trnava region), and it won't be on the agenda of the regular session next week, either, said Premier Robert Fico (Smer-SD) following the session, expressing his full support for Government Proxy for Investigating COVID-19 Pandemic Management Peter Kotlar.
"We had an away-from-home session today, and I didn't want to burden it with unrelated issues," said Fico, adding that the government session next week will be dedicated to the 50th anniversary of Agrokomplex in Nitra. "I'll pay an important working visit to China from next Tuesday till Thursday," said the premier. "Maybe this point will get onto the agenda of a future session, but it didn't today," he said.
Fico expressed his full support for Government Proxy Kotlar. "He's an honest man and a great fighter, I wish all ministers were fighters like him, I won't allow any pressure on him to resign," he stressed. The premier also rejected the claim that his trust in the proxy means that he's questioning the authority of SAV. "Don't put words in my mouth, I have great respect for SAV," he said.
SAV announced last Thursday (August 21) that its analysis had clearly shown that the vaccines contain only trace amounts of DNA molecules, far below the maximum level set. In this regard, SAV warned that statements and publications claiming high levels of DNA are based on technically incorrect procedures and/or misinterpreted results. Such claims are false and misleading, stated SAV.
Kotlar told TASR in reaction that he wouldn't comment on this and that he wanted a court to decide on the matter.
