Stats: Farmers Post Biggest Growth in Producer Prices, Up 8 percent in July 2025

Bratislava, 26 August (TASR) - In July, producer prices grew most rapidly in the agriculture segment, up by as much as 8 percent year-on-year (y-o-y), with construction work and materials slowing down to 4.2 percent, the lowest growth seen this year, the Statistics Office reported on Tuesday, adding that industrial producer prices remained at the same level as last year. In the agriculture segment, crops including fruit and vegetables were 7.4 percent more expensive, whereas livestock products including fish rose by 9.5 percent, the second-highest growth rate this year. In July 2025, the prices of construction work were 4.2 percent higher y-o-y, while the cost of construction materials went up by 1.5 percent y-o-y, with both categories posting the slowest growth this year. Meanwhile, the prices of materials increased by 2 percent y-o-y in the first seven months of the year. Industrial producer prices for the domestic market remained almost unchanged y-o-y. Of the 16 monitored branches, five saw declines in July, with the most significant drop posted in the manufacture of coke and oil products, by more than 14 percent. Other branches, such as electricity and gas, chemicals, computer technology and other production, repairs and installation of machinery, recorded declines of up to 3 percent. Conversely, the category of food, beverages and tobacco rose 3.6 percent y-o-y, followed by the production of means of transport, up by 1.6 percent. In the first seven months of 2025, industrial producer prices for the domestic market increased by 0.5 percent and, on a monthly basis, by 2.7 percent. The prices of industrial products for export in July were 1.1 percent higher than the year before, while they increased by 1 percent on a monthly basis.
