Health Authority: New Outbreak of Hepatitis A Reported in Lucenec District

Lucenec, 25 August (TASR) - A new outbreak of hepatitis A has been detected in the village of Dobroc in Lucenec district (Banska Bystrica region), the Regional Public Health Authority (RUVZ) in Lucenec reported on its website on Monday, adding that it wasn't epidemiologically linked to previous cases in the same district. "The case was in the age group of 55 to 59-year-olds and was not epidemiologically related to the confirmed positive cases of hepatitis A in the town of Filakovo [Lucenec district] and the surrounding villages," said the hygienists. The village of Dobroc is the sixth active outbreak of hepatitis A in Lucenec district, with other active outbreaks being also in the villages of Sid, Radzovce, Savol and Podrecany, and the town of Filakovo. An increase in cases of hepatitis A in the area has been seen since the beginning of the summer. am/mcs
