Energy Providers: Investing in Building Renovation Could Bring Energy Savings

Bratislava, 25 August (TASR) - The government plans to spend €700 million on energy aid for households next year, however, this is only a short-term solution and it won't solve the problem of high energy prices. The Energy Services Providers Association (APES-SK) pointed out on Monday. They stressed that only long-term solutions with a return on investment will bring a real reduction in energy costs for households. In particular, it is about supporting the renovation of family and residential buildings, which, in addition to energy savings, also generates jobs and economic growth. "It is unsustainable for Slovakia to subsidise energy prices for households every year and literally throw away millions of euros that could have been reinvested in projects with long-term benefits. If we're talking specifically about energy, the solution is to reduce its consumption, not to pay extra for households that have unnecessarily high consumption. Investing in the renovation of buildings is an investment in savings, employment, technological modernisation and energy security for the country," said APES-SK chairman of the Board of Directors Marcel Lauko. am/mcs
