Stats: EU-harmonised Inflation at 4.6 percent Y-o-Y in July

Bratislava, 20 August (TASR) - Year-on-year (y-o-y) inflation measured by the EU's Harmonised Index of Consumer Prices (HICP) stood at 4.6 percent in July, the same level as that seen in the previous month, and at 0.4 percent in a monthly comparison, the Statistics Office reported on Wednesday, adding that y-o-y HICP inflation in Slovakia was higher than the figure measured by national methodology, as published on 15 August.
Concerning monthly developments, prices rose in eight of the 12 monitored segments, affected most by prices of food and non-alcoholic beverages (up 0.5 percent), alcoholic beverages and tobacco (1.2 percent) and recreation and culture (0.8 percent). Conversely, prices saw a slight decline in the segments of clothing and footwear (0.6 percent) and transport (0.3 percent).
In a y-o-y comparison, prices grew in all 12 segments, with the growth ranging from 1.5 percent in the transport sector to 10.0 percent in education.
The average harmonised inflation rate for the 12-month period ending in July 2025 amounted to 3.9 percent.
