Vysoke Tatry, 19 August (TASR) - A mountain rescue team came to the aid of a pair of tourists from Kyrgyzstan who were stranded in the High Tatras on Monday night, the Mountain Rescue Service (HZS) has reported on its webiste. HZS received a request for assistance from its Polish peers on Monday (18 August) night. The tourists set out on a hike from the Polish side of the Tatras to the Chalubinskeho Vrata saddle, but night fell and they got lost in the Temnosmrecinska Valley. "As they didn't have a torch with them and one of them had an injured ankle, they contacted the Polish mountain rescue service, which then turned to HZS. Six mountain rescuers from the High Tatras regional centre went to help them," said the mountain rescuers. When they arrived at the scene, the rescuers examined and treated the man with the injured ankle, and, as the injury wasn't serious and didn't require transport on a stretcher, the rescue team accompanied the tourists to an off-road vehicle in the Koprova valley. From there, they were transported to Stary Smokovec, with the rescue operation ending in the early hours of Tuesday. ko/df
