Premier Fico Receives Representatives of Gotion InoBat Batteries

Bratislava, 19 August (TASR) - Premier Robert Fico (Smer-SD) received representatives of a company called Gotion InoBat Batteries (GIB) at the Government Office on Tuesday. The company is building a factory for the production of batteries for electric vehicles at Surany industrial park in Nove Zamky district (Nitra region). The meeting was held with Economy Minister Denisa Sakova (Voice-SD) and InoBat general director Marian Bocek in attendance. The government declared the battery plant project to be strategic investment in the first half of this year. Gotion InoBat Batteries is a joint venture of Chinese company Gotion High-Tech and Slovak start-up InoBat. The first battery gigafactory in Slovakia will be built in Surany on an area of 95 hectares and should create thousands of new jobs. In the initial stage, it will have a capacity of 20 gigawatt hours (GWh), with the potential to reach a capacity of up to 40 GWh. The launch of pilot production is scheduled before the beginning of 2026, and the start of regular production, with gradual scaling up to full capacity, is planned for January 2027. ko/df
