Bratislava, 18 August (TASR) - New orders in Slovak industry dropped by 0.9 percent year-on-year (y-o-y) to €5.54 billion in June 2025, the third consecutive month seeing a decline, the Statistics Office reported on Monday, adding that the pace slowed down significantly from the 4.3 percent drop reported in May, however.
After seasonal adjustments, new orders in industry decreased by 0.6 percent month-on-month (m-o-m) when compared to May.
Six of the 12 monitored branches posted y-o-y decreases in June. Overall developments were mainly influenced by a 2.7-percent y-o-y drop in orders in the production of motor vehicles, semi-trailers and trailers. This sector accounts for more than half of orders in industry.
A significant impact on the overall figure was also produced by a 15-percent decline in the production of electric appliances and a 1.8-percent decrease in orders in the production of metal structures excluding machinery and equipment.
Conversely, y-o-y growth in orders was recorded in the production of machinery and equipment not elsewhere classified (14.8 percent), in the production of computer, electronic and optical products (13.4 percent) and in the production of other means of transport (25.2 percent).
