The data also shows that 442 applicants were accepted into service in the first half of the year, while in the same period last year, the number was 316. The Police Corps has been facing a shortage of police officers in recent years. According to Interior Minister Matus Sutaj Estok (Voice-SD), there was a shortage of approximately 3,700 police officers in April. The ministry tried to address the situation by introducing recruitment and stabilisation allowances, as well as other benefits. Between October 2024 and June this year, almost 4,600 officers applied for the €5,000 stabilisation allowance, which comes with the obligation to remain in the force for another three years.
